Assassin's Creed Reveals Unexpected AoT Collaboration for Holiday Season
In a unexpected collaboration that challenges usual predictions, Ubisoft has revealed an virtual partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising holiday event operates from November 25 through December 22, providing free extra story content for Shadows players.
Mysterious Adventure Uncovered
According to the official statement, "An unusual confrontation pulls heroes Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh mission, where hints of prohibited practices and monstrous metamorphoses echo through the shadows." The plot presents a "unusually dressed woman named Ada" who tasks the pair with venturing into the Gemstone Grotto—a key location from Attack on Titan—to save her friend from a secret cult.
The mission concentrates on "strange experiments and a monstrous foe" and is accessible to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.
Recognizable Settings and Changes
The teaser features the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This significant location was formerly where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through generations. The trailer concludes with a dramatic moment showing a character, probably the hostage, morphing into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.
Unique Items and Additional Content
Players who successfully complete the adventure will receive an special katana together with multiple objects hidden throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also includes premium Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:
- Titan-inspired outfit for Yasuke
- Mikasa costume for Naoe
- Unique weapons
- Survey Corps vehicle
Latest Free Story Update
This release also adds the game's third complimentary story episode, titled "The Enigma." This playful adventure partners Naoe and Yasuke as they swap signature skills: Naoe reveals a dramatic interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns subduing stealth takedowns. True to its name, "The Mystery" also contains a new environmental puzzle that may ultimately explain some unanswered questions from the main storyline.

This represents hardly the primary time the Assassin's Creed franchise has collaborated with well-known anime properties. The series earlier featured a 2020 crossover story linking Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga.
