Lando Norris Leads Oscar Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice Session
The British driver has beaten Oscar Piastri at each of the past five race weekends.
The McLaren driver just pipped team-mate and title rival Oscar Piastri for the top spot in the dying seconds of practice at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Norris, who took the championship lead from Piastri by one point after taking the win in Mexico City two weeks ago, outpaced the Melbourne-born driver by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Before then, Oscar Piastri had been the leading McLaren for most of the session before the sprint shootout scheduled for 18:30 GMT.
Max Verstappen, the only other driver in the championship fight, trailing 36 points behind Norris, was classified in P17 as his Red Bull team opted for a different programme.
His teammate Yuki Tsunoda was the only driver to have an incident, though minor, when he spun at corner four soon after starting.
Tsunoda slid over the exit kerbs before rotating through the escape zone, and was lucky to get away with just a minor contact of the wall.
The Ferrari of the seven-time champion also had a spin, at the very end of the practice, turning around through the fast downhill Mergulho turn before the final corner on to the main straight.
The veteran wrapped up in 19th place, trailing team-mate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren drivers were well clear of the rest of the field, with Nico Hulkenberg's Sauber third fastest, over half a second behind Piastri's best.
Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso was fourth quickest, with the Sauber of Bortoleto in front of the Mercedes of George Russell and the Alpine of Gasly and Williams' Sainz.
